Located 130 kilometres from [Location]in Western Australia’s southeast, this joint venture is built on the footprint of the original mine in the area.
 
The operation involves open cut mining from two large pits and is expected to produce an average 850,000 ounces of gold and 30,000 tonne of copper a year for more than 20 years.
 
Production is due to commence in late 2008 so they are in full swing recruiting key staff that will be driving this project in the short, medium and long term, hence why this vacancy has arisen.
 
The purpose of the role:
If successful you will be responsible for supervising and managing the metallurgy departments technical resources (3 + 1 contractor) and liaising with mill production personnel to ensure the ore processing facility operates in a safe and efficient manner to budget KPI’s.
 
Major responsibilities of the role include:
·         Manage the analysis and reporting of plant and laboratory data
·         Manage the planning and execution of plant and laboratory trials and test-work
·         Manage and support projects within the ore processing department
·         Implement improvements into the plant
·         Manage a team of 4 – act as department head when required
 
Candidate requirements:
·         Degree in metallurgy
·         10 + years experience in the mining industry
·         5 + years experience in gold or base metals and milling operations
·         5 + years experience in a supervisory/ senior capacity
 
If successful you will work on a 5 days on 2 days off roster. An attractive remuneration package will be discussed with you at the time of interview.
