Analytical Lab Technican

Duties Include:
- Responsible
for testing and documenting the chemical composition and mechanical
properties of various alloy samples.
- Prioritize
workload to ensure a timely analysis of all samples.
- Maintain
sample identity at all times.
- Conduct both
chemical analysis (primarily using XRF and ICP) and mechanical tests
(primarily hardness and tensile tests) in accordance with work
instructions or in accordance with directions specified by engineering, R
& D, or process metallurgy by customer request.
- Verify test
results with alloy or customer specifications ensuring the results are
correctly determined to be passing or failing and enter test results into
the lab database with few errors.
- Correctly
maintain all documentation.
- Print
Certificates of Analysis for the Shipping Department.
- Perform
housekeeping as required to ensure the lab is a clean and safe working
environment.
- Cross train
with the Administrative Lab Tech and serve as a proficient back-up as
needed.
- Assist with
special projects as required.
Qualified Candidates will have:
- A.S. degree
in a science or engineering field or possess prior experience related to
basic analytical lab techniques or metallurgical principles.
- One year of
experience in the operation of XRF, ICP, or mechanical testing equipment
is desirable.
- Experience in
wet chemistry techniques is desirable.
- Position
requires working with concentrated acids and other chemicals while
ensuring the safety of yourself and co-workers
