Our Client is a public, but unlisted Australian company which is
majority owned by our Client’s holding company. The Holding company is seeking
a secondary listing on the TSX in late 2008, and will be obtaining a separate
listing for our Client on the TSX. The Holding company may either retain a
substantial shareholding in this company, or distribute shares in-specie.
The portfolio consists of exploration and development assets in Portugal, and a
gold-copper project in the FSU/CIS, which is expected to be sold through a
sales process under way and is expected to assist in financing the development
activities for the Company’s portfolio. Our Client is managed from a suburban London base and has a
strong operational and exploration team on the ground in Portugal and in the FSU.
The Portuguese assets consist of:
- An open pit gold project within driving distance of Lisbon, which is being
permitted for a ~60,000ozpa operation
- Exploration upside is being drilled while the project is being
permitted;a Tungsten asset near Porto
- It has a historical resource with considerable exploration potential
- The project would logically be exploited by open cut methods;
- An exploration project in the heart of the Iberian Pyrite belt, highly
prospective for copper, lead, zinc, and pyrite mining.
The Company wishes to appoint a CEO to the Board to manage the company
and its development. Key issues which will be considered in the recruitment of
the successful candidate include:
- The successful candidate will be required to live in either London or Portugal, with regular
travel to Toronto, and to site
- Fluency in Portuguese would be considered advantageous but not
essential;
- The company maintains an office in suburban London near to good
schools and amenities, while the Portugal office, on the
outskirts of Lisbon, is near English medium
international schools;
- What is required is strong leadership and organizational skills which
encompass working with a range of cultures, and people at every level from
government to workforces;
- Strong organizational skills are required for managing staff, and
budgeting, planning, and delivery of projects against plans;
- Good communication skills (oral and written) are essential.
