Director, Corporate Exploration

Summary Description of Duties:
- Role Purpose: as a leader in the Corporate Exploration team to identify,
discover, acquire and economically evaluate new exploration opportunities
- To execute on the Corporation’s exploration strategy
- To initiate, establish and manage exploration activities on new
Corporate Exploration projects and to deliver resources and reserves that meet
the Corporation’s growth objectives
Areas of responsibility:
- Lead the execution of exploration strategies on new properties to help
ensure that the Corporation’s growth objectives are met
- Ranks and prioritizes exploration initiatives to ensure value for each
exploration dollar invested.
- Manages the human, financial and operational resources on new Corporate
Exploration projects -Responsible for generative and due diligence programs for
all exploration conducted in new exploration regions.
- Formulates annual operating and capital budgets for new Corporate
Exploration programs.
- Liaising and working with government agencies and officials on land and
permitting issues.
- Liaison with local communities and facilitate land access agreements
with surface land owners to carry out exploration programs
- Supports Corporate Development initiatives including property
evaluations and recommendations, ensures the approach to evaluations is
standardized and that exploration activities are effectively integrated with
other department initiatives
- Prepares and presents results and data in the form of reports, maps and
management presentations.
Qualifications
Skill requirements:
- 15-20 years with experience managing multi-drill exploration and
evaluation projects
- Understanding of global gold metallogeny, deposit models and exploration
methodology from grass-roots to feasibility evaluations
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/Portuguese/Russian/English) preferred
- Ability to understand and interpret resource block model estimations and
identify quality projects from large amounts of exploration data.
- Database management skills, understanding of QAQC protocols and
procedures that meet industry standards
- Ability to lead and mentor exploration staff, directing laborers and
coordinating contract service providers
- Understanding of the exploration and mining landscape including mining
law and competitor activity
- Knowledge of deal structures and the junior exploration environment
General:
- Position based in Toronto
- Computer literate and competency with GIS/resource modeling software.
