Senior Mine Geologist

Reporting to the Mine
Superintendent, the Mine Senior Geologist is responsible for day to day quality
control of the ore extraction and reconciliations for both mining and mill
feed.
Specific
Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for all
geologic and block modeling for current and future operations;
- Interact with engineering
on all long and short term mining plans;
- Reconciliate extraction
performance with model projections (pit and stockpiles);
- Produce bench level ore
plans;
- Assist in data collection
and in representatively of sampling;
- Participate in the
monthly/yearly volume and grade reconciliation of production;
- Responsible for budgeting
and development of the annual exploration program;
- Promote improvements in all
areas to meet or exceed set targets
- Involved in margin
improvements (Agrium/Contractor);
- Participate and lead
meetings to conduct such improvement opportunities;
- Act as a strong safety
leader in all aspects of the open pit operation
- Perform supervisory duties
on a relief basis and leadership in team activities
- Daily interaction with
mining and drilling contractors
- Looking at continuous improvement
opportunities;
- Follow-up day to day mining
activities;
- Participate in annual price
negotiation with the diamond drill contractor
Qualifications
of the Position Include:
- A Bachelor degree in Geology
with mining experience;
- Have 2-6 years of open pit,
truck/shovel mining experience
- Able to handle a large and
varied workload;
- Excellent interpersonal,
communication, planning, problem solving, and organization skills
- Ability to work in a team
environment with minimal supervision
- Experience working with MS
Office, SAP, CAD, and Mine Planning software such as Surpac
