Manager, New Business Development – Minerals Group

J. Herzog & Sons, Inc. (JHS) is a Denver-based real estate investment and management company which has interests in shopping centers, hotels, oil and gas, and restaurants.  JHS has a full-service management company with in-house leasing, construction management, property management and marketing divisions.  Currently, JHS owns 13 shopping centers with over 4 million square feet.  JHS also is a restaurant franchisee with Noodles and Company, and operates 10 restaurants in Nebraska and Missouri.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Oversees development of new business opportunities for JHS Energy
• Seeks out new acquisition opportunities and establishes working relationships with outside parties who generate new investment opportunities
• Acquisition emphasis is producing and non-producing mineral royalty interests
• Responsible for the solicitation and evaluation of prospective acquisitions and directs acquisition and due diligence procedures
• Assists in performing cash flow and reserve projections of acquired properties.

DUTIES:

60%

• Development of New Business Opportunities
• Through new and existing industry contacts, seeks to develop relationships with individuals and companies that will generate new acquisition opportunities for the company.

• 30%
• Acquisition of Properties
• By maintaining high level of awareness of industry activity, communicating with industry professionals, evaluating properties of interest, verifying title, initiating purchase offers, consummating purchases, and managing the acquisition budget.

 10%

• Valuation of Acquired Properties
• By assisting in performing engineering-based cash flow and reserve projections for banking, tax and investor purposes.

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• 10 years of closely related experience
• Computer:  Excel, Word, Various mining industry CD-Rom and on-line programs.  
• Communication:  Listening, writing including legal and technical, Strong verbal communication skills with all industry and financial disciplines.   
• Problem Solving:  Collecting and analyzing information
• Analytical:  Working knowledge of all technical aspects of the mining industry as well as mineral deeds, assignments, leases, and purchase and sale agreements
• Ability to assist in calculating reserves and to perform cash flow projections.
• Other:  General management and organizational skills.
