Our Client is a world leader in finding, mining and processing the
earth’s mineral resources. Major products include aluminum, iron ore, coal,
copper, uranium, and diamonds, gold and industrial minerals.
- The mandate of the exploration division is to grow the value of the
Company by discovering or acquiring resources that can increase future
cash-flows
- The objective is to discover one major resource each year
- This is achieved through the effective application of geoscience
techniques and processes, taking account of HSEC, economic, commercial and
political factors.
- The Exploration team operates as a global, integrated business
comprising 5 regional exploration teams, a Project Generation Group and 5
global support teams (HR, Finance, HSEC, IT and Laboratories)
- The work environment covers the full spectrum of geographic areas and
time zones
- It comprises a wide variety of countries, cultures, language groups, environments
and jurisdictions
- It requires operation in co-located and virtual teams, in field and city
locations, supported by effective collaboration, relationships and engagement.
The Role
- This role operates within the Asia Region which forms part of the
Exploration Group.
- The role leads a multi-disciplinary HSEC team and provides expert
technical advice
- Varied geographic and physical landscapes

- Multiple commercial and legal frameworks
- Multiple languages, cultural and social frameworks.
- Multiple internal and external stakeholders (NGO’s, government, industry
bodies, communities)
The Primary Purpose
- To provide effective HSEC delivery
- To implement and contribute to the design of HSEC processes, practices
and systems.
- To collaborate with other regions and key HSEC stakeholders within the
Group in the development of strategic HSEC plans and their implementation.
- To build capacity within the HSEC team.

Problem Solving
- The ideal candidate will have good analytical skills in understanding
the regional HSEC requirements re: the Company strategy, in conducting risk
assessments and in ensuring compliance
- The role needs to apply a range of technical experience within HSEC in
varied environments.
Key relationships
- Internal and external interaction with General Manager HSEC and
Exploration (Asia) Director.
- Engage with project managers, NGO and other HSEC Managers.
- Collaborates with regional representatives from Communications &
External Relations, HSE and other Product groups within the same region to
ensure alignment to the Company and Group strategy
Education & Qualifications
- College/University Education: Graduate qualification in at least one of
the areas of responsibility with a preference for formal qualifications in
health, safety, environment and / or social sciences.
- Training: leadership Training
Remuneration
