Environmental Manager



Our clients $2.4 billion project, once in full operation will be the largest gold mining in Australia – do you want to be a part of this exciting expansion project?
 
Our client is an international success story and are seen as an employer of choice in the highly competitive gold mining industry. Located 130 kilometres from [Location], this joint venture is built on the footprint of the original mine in the area. The operation involves open cut mining from two large pits and is expected to produce an average 850,000 ounces of gold and 30,000 tonne of copper a year for more than 20 years.
 
The purpose of the role:
If successful you will be responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of environmental management and monitoring programs, change management projects, concurrent rehabilitation programs and for advising management at our clients site on environmental legal obligations and commitments.
 
Major responsibilities of the role include:
·         Develop, implement and review the Environmental Management System
·         Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with the conditions and commitments of environmental approvals and licences
·         Preparation of site/ management, technical, statutory and annual environmental reports
·         Develop safety management action plans to ensure all tasks undertaken by the Environmental Department are completed safely and efficiently
·         Provide direct supervision, mentoring and effective leadership to the site's environmental team consisting of Environmental Officers and Technicians
 
Candidate requirements:
·         Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering or Science related field
·         10 + years experience in environmental affairs and management at an operating mine site
·         Extensive knowlege of WA environmental rules and regulations
·         Ability to manage a cultrurally diverse staff pool and ensure that the department has clear objectives and strategies
·         Ability to clearly undestand statutory environmental obligations and ensrue managment at the site complies with these obligations
 
If successful as part of the management team you will be provided with free housing in town and will be requried to work a 5 days on 2 days off roster. An attractive remuneration package will be discussed with you at the time of interview.
