Laboratory Technician

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities in the Metal Extraction Products (MEP) laboratory in Tempe, AZ. The MEP lab supports the technical service activities for MEP customers in USA, Canada, and Mexico related to ACORGA and CYANEX solvent extraction reagents, with additional support provided for global MEP technical programs.

• Primary responsibilities include coordinating laboratory testing and completing various sample preparation and analytical chemistry procedures – particularly atomic absorption and titration techniques
• Also included are daily supervision of student intern activities, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and maintenance of pilot plant equipment
• The position requires daily interaction with technical specialists and account managers and includes periodic travel to solvent extraction operations
• The laboratory technician will be fully involved in North American sales team meetings, and office operational activities.
• Successful candidate will exhibit a strong focus on safety/health/environment principles; have a strong attention to detail along with capabilities in planning and organization
• Candidates must have a technical degree (associates or higher), with a Bachelors of Science in chemistry, chemical engineering, metallurgy or similar fields preferred. Initiative, action-oriented attitude, and ability to work well with many co-workers are needed
• Two or more years experience in laboratory or mining setting is preferred.
