Summary Description of Duties:
- To use advanced-level knowledge to manage financial reporting and the
production of financial statements for Kinross South American Operations
- Leads technical projects including defining and achieving project goals,
anticipating and minimizing risks, managing resources, and delegating tasks
- Manages the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statements
and statistics for a division/group of companies and prepares a brief narrative
summary highlighting the reasons for variances in the months results from
budget
- Manages the preparation of quarterly reports; contributes to the
finalization of consolidated financial statements, including the notes to the
financial statements
- Contributes to the assembly of statistical and other information included
in Kinross annual report
- Provides assistance to regional controllers in drafting the equivalent
materials in subsidiaries annual reports
- Liaises with external auditors during their audits of the financial
statements
- Coordinates the preparation of accounting issue memoranda in connection
with the quarterly and annual financial statements
- Develops and maintains detailed consolidated management reports for
review by corporate financial management
- Oversees all tasks required in the automation of information collection
and reporting
- Ensures maximum utilization of electronic transfer of financial
information into a consolidation package
- Monitors the achievement of reporting deadlines by regional entities
- Participates in the preparation of key regional AFEs and investment
cases
- Reviews financial AFE metrics for accuracy (ex. IRR, Payback, Lease or
Buy analysis, etc), prepares a summary of accounting and financial reporting
impact and implications
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and considers the business
impact of decisions on diverse groups; influences others to achieve project
goals, often without direct authority
- To advise the management group on financial reporting for South American
Operations
- Prepares business cases and reports regarding projects and initiatives
and presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders
- Responsible for the preparation and accuracy of forecast and budget and
the reports for management and the Directors, including early recognition of
trends / potential problems and business advantages, and advising senior
management as appropriate
- Works to continuously improve the accuracy and timeliness of the flow of
financial information on the reporting units and ensure their consistency
- Prepares presentation materials for reporting to Kinross¡¦ senior
management and Board of Directors
- To use advanced knowledge to support financial reporting
- Acts as an ambassador for continuous improvement within financial
reporting; introduces new methodologies and tools to improve current practices
- Ensures all projects are integrated with other business activities and
that regional and functional interests are represented; ensures redundancies
across improvement projects are minimized
- Participates in the establishment of appropriate accounting policies and
procedure
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
- Additional specialized education of up to 4 years including masters
level degree or equivalent -Formal professional designation in appropriate area
of expertise
- 10-15 years of related work experience
