Mine Maintenance Manager



Job description
We have big expansion plans for our Alberta operations. Along with big plans, comes big opportunity. You will play a crucial role in achieving our  goal of becoming a leading producer in the Alberta oilsands.
 
ACTIVITIES
Under the direction of the GM Joslyn Mine Operations this position is responsible for:
  • Pre operations, Commissioning, Operations in both the maintenance and capital projects execution functions.
  • Interfaces with operations and contractors.
  • Establish appropriate maintenance programs & planning, and stock mgmt procedures.
  • Confirm maintenance operation conforms to TEP requirements.
  • Develop capacity and efficiency studies and implements recommendations.
 
Duties will also include:
  • Ensure that Total management issues are properly addressed
  • Plan, organize and direct all project activities including design, procurement, scheduling, estimating, cost control, construction, start-up and commissioning
  • Establish and manage the scope, schedule, budget and contracting plan
  • Establish project procedures and prepare the project execution plan
  • Implement project related quality programs
  • Interface with internal and external clients and agencies
  • Monitor adherence to schedule and budget, and initiate corrective action if required
  • Provide timely and accurate project information and status updates to management
  • Deal with suppliers, contractors and subcontractors and resolve budget, schedule and quality issues
  • Exercise management responsibility with respect to selection, appraisal and training of staff
 
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Organization and set up of the maintenance programs for Joslyn North Mine Project.
  • Working within HSE policies as established by TEPC.
 Education :
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • APEGGA membership required
Experience :
  • Minimum 10 years experience in surface mining, preferably in oil sands
Skills :
  • Highly motivated and self-starter
  • Team player
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Effective economic analysis and evaluation skills.
