Communications Manager



Place
A leader in the Australian resources industry, [Employer] is part of[Company] , which operates at over 20 mine sites and employs more than 3,500 people in Australia and New Zealand.
 
[Employer] is an industry leader for large-scale materials handling and minerals processing and currently processes over 100 million tonnes of iron ore annually on behalf of mine owners. We also specialise in underground mining and we provide contract maintenance and fabrication services to the mining industry.
 
Opportunity
This is an excellent career opportunity to join a dynamic business that’s growing robustly through the current resources boom. Whilst there is a leadership component to the role, it’s also a “hands-on” position, covering areas such as brand and reputation management, media management, crisis management and emergency response, and marketing.
 
You’ll use your skills and experience to provide appropriate communications advice and support to internal teams including human resources, business development, project development teams, operations, and engineering and technical services. You’ll also work closely with our senior management team, including drafting memos and speeches for [Employer] General Manager and leadership group as required.
 
Purpose
Primarily, you’ll be responsible for providing strategic communications leadership and support to the [Employer] , both in an internal and external capacity. Managing a small team, you’ll be a senior member of [Company] Communications team and you’ll play a key role in supporting national initiatives for the Resources Division.
 
Requirements
With a relevant tertiary qualification, you’ll have exceptional writing, editing, presentation and oral communication skills. Key attributes that will contribute to your success include strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
 
With substantial experience in a similar role, you’ll have proven ability to prioritise and manage a substantial workload. Ideally, you’ll have experience in managing a team, while previous experience in mining or resources will be advantageous. As there will be site travel on a regular basis, you must have the flexibility to accommodate this.
