Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

A Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety or related discipline is required, along with 1-3 year’s experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

In addition:

• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT compliance and regulations
• Knowledge in local safety, health and environmental laws and regulations
• Knowledge in the fundamentals of fire protection
• Excellent presentation and training skills, and excellent communication skills—both written and verbal

The EHS Specialist will report directly to the EHS Manager at the Franklin facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assisting in developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with all Joy Mining health and safety standards
• Assist in maintaining required regulatory records and documentation for OSHA, EPA and DOT
• Support all safety and health programs for a 1,000+ employee unionized manufacturing facility
• Provide on-site OSHA and EPA regulatory training for all employees
• Strive to identify, eliminate and correct hazardous conditions
• Provide EHS emergency response via cell phone 24 hours a day
