Geoscience Technician



Leader in the exploration and production industry with domestic and international operations is seeking to hire a Geoscience Technician for their Houston office.

 

THIS ORGANIZATION IS SEEKING THE TOP PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY AND IS OFFERING COMPENSATION AND INCENTIVE PROGRAMS TO ATTRACT THE VERY BEST.

 

Support Geoscience personnel through gathering, creating, extracting, editing, and managing geological, geophysical and reservoir engineering data. Work with other geotechs on team to load and maintain geoscience data as necessary in Openworks (Seisworks, Stratworks etc.) and other applications. Create maps and displays as needed by management team.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated strength in PC applications; proficient in use of spreadsheets, graphics programs (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Canvas), databases, mapping programs; proficient in PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of well data, log data and seismic data
  • Ability to understand and apply basic concepts of petroleum geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering
  • Ability to understand, manipulate, audit and maintain a variety of common geologic, geophysical, satellite image and cartographic data.
  • Ability to help prepare a wide variety of reports and displays (geologic & geophysical maps, cross sections, montages, charts, tables, etc.) in hardcopy and electronic formats.
  • Working knowledge of vendor software data formats: LAS, LIS, ASCII, and SEGY
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects and prioritize workload; ability to meet short-term deadlines
  • Highly effective team player who takes active roles in team responsibilities, is flexible, and responds well to change
  • Ability to communicate information both orally and in written format
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects and prioritize workload;
  • Minimum of 5 years oil and gas industry experience
  • Ability to meet tight timelines

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with PC and workstation based applications - both geological and geophysical (i.e., Landmark/Openworks and all its components, ZMAP+, ARCGIS, GeoGraphix, Neuramap, Petrel and GoCad, P2000 and Petroweb, UNIX, OpenWorks, ZMAP, ArcGIS, and OFM)

 

MUST BE LEGALLY AUTHORIZED TO WORK FULL TIME IN THE U.S.
