Experienced Drill and Blast Engineer

My client is a leading Australian mining and resources company with a diversified asset portfolio in carbon and stainless steel materials. They are currently looking for an experienced Drill and Blast Engineer.
 
The Opportunity
This position is based in [Location]. The operations run out of several small open pits, mining up to 1 million tonnes per year.
 
The Drill and Blast Engineer reports to the Drill and Blast Supervisor and is responsible for fulfilling the technical functions for the drill and blast department to ensure sufficient broken stocks to ensure the production schedules are achieved.
 
The Responsibilities of this position include:
·         Designing and monitoring blasts
·         Quality Assurance on drilling and charging functions
·         Recording information and preparing reports
·         Assisting Drill & Blast Supervisor in managing the Drill & Blast function
·         Preparing the forecast of explosive usage and monitor the site explosive levels
·         Investigating variances on Drill & Blast performance.
 
Criteria for Applicants
 
To be considered for this opportunity, the following qualifications, experience and values are required:
·         Graduate Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
·         Completed sufficient practical mining experience to obtain first class or quarry manager's certificate and have some experience in a drill and blast role.
