Principal Mining Engineer

Job Description:

  • To Mentor and lead a team of Client and Company Mining Engineers through project, commercial and administrative systems set for the Client - Company alliance
  • Inform, develop and train staff on project practices and responsibilities with in the Client - Company Alliance
  • Lead an integrated team of Client and Company Engineers for the supply of Integrity and Business Improvement services for the Project in accordance with agreed business requirements.
  • To ensure clear agreement of the Project objectives and that these are met or exceeded.
  • Provide strong HSE leadership both on site and in the field of engineering.
  • Ensure that Mining Engineers are able to initiate, develop and implement projects, (as classified by the project risk matrix) safely and efficiently
  • Liaise with Site Superintendents and Managers to ensure the successful completion of on-site mining and construction projects to meet client’s expectations
  • Ensure all alliance project activity is conducted in accordance with the Project Delivery framework
  • Ensure that the Project Optimisation Plan Mining & Construction Management Plan is followed by mining, construction and development teams
  • Identify and respond to project issues, implement timely interventions or escalate as required to ensure project outcomes comply with project plans
  • Manage HR resource capacity within the Mining Engineering section to ensure that sufficient personnel are sourced and that their capability is developed and maintained to ensure that current Project and future outcomes can be achieved
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the Project health, safety, environmental and community requirements and maintain a pro-active approach to personal well being as well as that of fellow employees, associated personnel and members of the public.
  • Ensure zero harm on all Alliance projects, activities, facilities, plant and equipment and ensure any potential/actual HSE issues are monitored and responded to effectively

Qualifications:

  • Science degree in Mining Engineering, or related field.
  • 10 years experience required predominantly in open pit mining, preferably in various commodities such as iron re, base metals, gold.
  • Previous FSU experience is advantageous.
  • Any Special Requirements:
  • Fluent Russian speaking is highly desired.
