Environmental Coordinator



POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinates all environmental activities within assigned organization, including industrial hygiene, environmental health, and radiation protection
  • Acts as liaison between incumbent's organization and the Environmental Protection Department (EPD)
  • This job applies to any of the approved on application such as Abqaiq Plant, Northern & Southern Area Oil Operation, RTRO, RTRM, RTRE, Riyadh Refinery, Yanbu Refinery, Jeddah Refinery, Rabigh Refinery, and Yanbu Gas & Terminal.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates intra-departmental teams to implement the Corporate environmental policy and monitor compliance
  • This includes the supervision of local surveys and sampling as well as the interpretation of measurement results
  • Obtains technical advice from EPD as needed
  • Keeps abreast of all environmental issues that pertain to the organization, particularly any non-compliances that may have been identified
  • Keeps management updated on significant environmental issues
  • Stays current with all applicable environmental regulations, standards, procedures and guidelines as well as all Saudi Aramco environmental programs
  • Responds to concerns and requests for information from EPD
  • Helps organize and participates in major environmental surveys such as Environmental Performance Assessments (EPAs), Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) surveys, Occupational Health Hazard Assessments (OHHAs), and Environmental Health surveys
  • Actively seeks to resolve any findings from these surveys
  • Provides follow-up information and update reports to EPD as required
  • Maintains records of all waste (including wastewater) generated by the organization and works with EPD to develop waste minimization plans
  • Ensures that the waste is treated and disposed of properly
  • Develops facility-specific phase-out and disposal procedures for hazardous materials such as asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), and chlorofluorocarbons (CFC).
  • Reviews and comments on environmental aspects of contract documents
  • Works with EPD to monitor the environmental performance of contractor operations
  • Provide needed support for the implementation of the HAZCOM program including hazardous materials/chemicals inventory, chemical hazard bulletins, hazard signs and train-the-trainer programs and employee training
  • Ensure that all hazardous materials/chemical containers are labeled per HAZCOM program requirements
  • Participates in the Company's oil spill protection programs and keep records of the latest response plans for such emergencies
  • Attends EPD's biannual Environmental Coordinators meetings and other related courses and conferences
  • Enhances environmental awareness by organizing presentations and video sessions, distributing information, and setting a good example
  • Writes formal reports, environmental articles for company publications, and develops / delivers presentations
  • Coordinates all EMS-related activities within the organization as appropriate, including the development of environmental objectives and indicators, tracking of performance and costs, and record-keeping and reporting functions.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • BS Science or Engineering
  • A minimum of seven (7) years experience in engineering or scientific related activities preferably associated with the production of oil
  • Ability to speak and write reports or articles in English using both scientifically correct terminology and terms understandable to any level of listener or reader.
