Process Engineer – Mining & Metallurgy

SNC-Lavalin seeks candidates for the position of Process Engineer – Mining & Metallurgy for its Mining Division, based in Montreal, Canada. The nature of the Mining & Metallurgy industry requires a candidate with international exposure and will involve assignment on projects with international clients. Frequent travel will be required of the incumbent.

The position reports to the Director of Technology Group of the Mining & Metallurgy Division of SNC-Lavalin.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing process engineering and technical expertise for clients in the Mining industry worldwide
  • Develop process concepts
  • Carry out technical evaluations
  • Develop piping and instrumentation process
  • Conduct process evaluations, preliminary and feasibility studies, and detailed engineering mandates
  • Prepare operating cost estimates
  • Provide specialized technical consultancy services to Mining industry clients, such as debottlenecking and troubleshooting studies, assistance and support to Operations during commissioning and start-up, strategic technology assessments, and trade-off studies
  • Write detailed engineering reports, studies and briefs
  • Assist in business development activities, such as the preparation of proposals to prospective clients, including development of scopes of work, of execution methodologies, of engineering estimates, definition of project schedules, and the identification of project teams
  • Making presentations to potential clients, both in Montreal and outside Canada

Requirements: 

  • University degree in Engineering Metallurgical, Process
  • Minimum 5-8 years experience, with relevant experience in process engineering of Mining & Metallurgy, both from a design and from an operating perspective
  • Be eligible for the « Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec » (O.I.Q.)
  • Ability to be assigned on international projects, requiring frequent and extended travel
  • Fluency in the spoken and written French and English languages
  • Other languages skills will be considered a significant additional asset
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Capable of working under tight deadlines, whilst achieving objectives
  • Team player
