Senior Geologist



The incumbent in this position will carry out geological interpretations, develop geological models, and construct block models for mineral resource estimation and mineral reserve evaluations, and prepare and audit NI 43-101 Technical Reports for exploration and mining projects. Site visits to mines, development projects and exploration properties, as well as interaction with client personnel will be important components of the above work.

This position is based in the head office in Toronto or Vancouver and reports to X, based in Toronto. Frequent travel will be required

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide advice to clients on technical aspects of exploration and mining projects.
  • Prepare mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates.
  • Review and assign work in order to best utilize the skills and abilities of the professional staff.
  • Ensure deadlines are realistic and achieved.
  • Work closely with clients to maintain clear communications.
  • Maintain an industry profile to assist in marketing the services of our Client.
  • Assure compliance with all external regulatory agencies and organizations for all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop supportive working relationships with peers.

The Senior Geologist works closely with:

  • Other members of the geological team
  • Peers in mining and metallurgical disciplines
  • Accounting and administrative support personnel

EDUCATION:

  • At a minimum, undergraduate degree or higher in one of geology or geological engineering.

WORKING EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum fifteen years of direct industry experience.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION:

  • Professional Engineer or geologist or similar; able to meet the requirements of a Qualified Person under Canadian Securities Regulations.

EXPERIENCE TYPE AND DURATION:

  • Major Mining Company Experience - Preferable; three years minimum
  • Multiple Companies Experience – Mandatory
  • Consulting Experience - Mandatory; five years minimum.
  • Mine Operations Experience – Preferred, three years minimum.
  • Management/Leadership Experience – Preferred
  • North American Experience – Mandatory
  • International Experience – Mandatory
  • Junior Mining Company Experience – Preferred
  • Marketing Experience – Preferred

LANGUAGES

  • A demonstrated ability to communicate exceptionally well both verbally and in writing in English is a mandatory requirement
  • Ability in other languages is desirable.

TRAVEL

  • Although extended travel is rare, the ability to travel frequently on short notice is mandatory.
