Turnaround Planner

Description
Our Turnarounds & Small Projects department is seeking a qualified individual to join their team in the role of Turnaround Planner. The purpose of this position is to develop, communicate and monitor safe, cost effective turnaround plans and schedules, in assigned areas, for approved scope.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain current and "Master" workscopes for assigned areas
- Develop execution strategies, resource plans and supporting information requirements to safely execute approved Turnaround scope
- Utilizing the computer planning /scheduling system (IMMPower-SP or Primavera) develop Work Breakdown Structures for the turnaround activities
- Develop schedules to complete the work, optimizing resource usage and schedule duration
- Identify the optimum schedule, critical path and sensitivities that may become critical
- Develop cost estimates for workscopes
- Communicate execution strategies and resource needs with field leadership to ensure "buy-in"
- Ensure material, equipment and labour is ordered and available, identify delivery dates for orders by others
- Maintain Turnaround history files, lessons learned
- During Turnarounds - monitor progress and resource usage, incorporate plans for additional work and steward to identified schedule and estimates
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 or GED. Preference will be given to those with previous shutdown planning experience in a refinery or similar environment
- 5 years experience in a shutdown planning environment in refinery, petrochemical or similar facility
- Trade Certification or equivalent qualification
- 5 years minimum field experience in trades or equivalent experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of at least 1 computerized planning system with shutdown planning capability (ie Immpower SP, CASP, Primavera)
- Comprehensive knowledge of all maintenance crafts used in a Refinery shutdown environment
- Detailed knowledge of computer supported planning and scheduling systems and ability to interact effectively with several computer support systems (Syncrude Turnaround team currently uses IMMPOWER SP / Primavera for planning and scheduling)
- Ability to transform complex scopes into clear, effective plans which coordinate and optimize resource usage.
- Well developed interpersonal, motivational, organizational, coordination and team skills
- Well developed communication skills which will result in maintenance of effective interfaces with departments who are involved in workscope identification, development and execution i.e. Engineering, QA/QC, Maintenance, Operations, Materials, Contract Services, Support Services
