Plant Metallurgical Engineer

Teck-Pogo is recruiting for a Plant Metallurgical Engineer to work at the remote Pogo Mine located near Fairbanks, Alaska. The NEW 2500 t/d mill uses SAG/ball mill grinding, gravity recovery, flotation, and leaching/CIP to recover 350-400,000 ounces of gold bullion per year.

Duties:

• Develop and conduct laboratory and in-plant testing to optimize the process and maximize gold recovery.
• Develop familiarity with modern distributed process control systems.
• Develop expertise in gold mass balance accounting, ferric iron co-precipitation in water treatment, gold leaching, cip/stripping, carbon rejuvenation, electro winning, gold refining and paste plant operation.
• Supervise metallurgical technicians and work closely with the mill general foreman, supervisors, control room operators, assay laboratory personnel and the process control engineer.

Requires:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Mineral Process Engineering.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant operational experience in a mineral processing operation.
• Prefer gold experience although base metal will be considered.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Troubleshooting skills

Pogo is a camp job with transportation provided from Fairbanks, Delta Junction, or Tok, Alaska. Work rotation is 2 weeks on/1 week off. At Pogo all rooms have phone, internet and cable tv connections. The camp has a game room with pool tables, an exercise room, a weight room and a sauna. Must pass a post-offer physical and drug test
