This is an outstanding opportunity to step into an exciting "hands on" role with one of the largest mining companies in Australia. Residing in the large township of Mount Isa, you will be a vital member of the site's environmental team.
Reporting to the Health Safety and Environmental Superintendent, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the site's environmental management system.
Your duties will include:
· Monitoring and auditing compliance with internal and external requirements
· Designing, implementing and monitoring of management programs that address environmental issues; including air emissions, water quality, waste levels and biodiversity
· Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative requirements
· Continual improvement of key environmental metrics
· Pro-active safety and environmental culture participation
· Analyse and interpret environmental monitoring data collected by Environmental team
· Management of documentation associated with environmental monitoring programs
· Conduct investigations on environmental incidents as required
· Update and communicate environmental legislation issues within the Environment team
· Undertake internal monthly reporting on Environmental incidents and activities
· Assist in the annual Environmental Monitoring Report
The Successful candidate will possess:
· 2-5 years experience with environmental management in mining a capacity
· Experience with computer databases, word processing packages, GIS packages and spreadsheets
· Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, or Natural Resource Management
Salaries will be commensurate with experience and will be in the range of $80k - 110k + benefits.
Salaries outside this range will be considered for people with exceptional skills.
