Sr. Structural Engineer



Our Mississauga office currently has a permanent opportunity available for a Sr. Structural Engineer to take a leading, hands-on role within the Structural team.  If you are looking for a challenging role to work on a vast array of projects in a dynamic environment this is the role

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:

  • The position will assist the civil/structural engineering service for current projects undertaken in Toronto and abroad, and will develop new areas of infrastructure outside of the current business.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Arrange and supervise design drafting staff/functions for the work undertaken for civil/structural projects.
  • Prepare structural calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian and International Standards.
  • Assist in sourcing new work and maintaining existing client base.
  • Prepare proposals and estimate of manhour budgets.
  • Manage projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Prepare Scope of Work Documentation.
  • Prepare engineering reports.
  • Prepare civil/structural project specifications.
  • Manage and perform structural and civil engineering designs to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Quality Assurance - Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the relevant Quality Assurance system.

Safety - Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Minerals and Metals Business Unit. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

KEY SKILLS/PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Overall responsibility for providing structural and civil support to the WorleyParsons Group in Toronto.
  • Have good communication and personal skills for inter-discipline work with other business units.
  • Drive for excellent project outcomes, including cost effective budgets (fees and capital), quality and schedule.
  • A team player who is prepared to work hard.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in civil structural engineering with an emphasis on industrial, process and mining type structures experience.
  • BSc in Civil Engineering, P.Eng or eligibility is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Building Codes and civil/structural engineering practices.
  • Skills in technical execution and management of work.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Marketing development skills.
  • Foundation design for large rotating equipment.
  • Flexibility to travel and work on site when required.
  • You will additionally need to possess strong design, managerial, communication and leadership skills.  In return you will be working on a combination of challenging, multi-million dollar projects where your expertise can be utilised and developed.
