Our client - A high profile coal mining company in the Province, is looking for an experienced Pit Geologist to join their growing team in North Eastern BC. Reporting directly to the Chief Geologist you will be responsible for:

• Identify exploration efforts to develop the resources at the mine
• Compile & interpret geological information to develop models
• Have a focus on H & S policies & procedures
• Calculate mineral resources for planning & reporting purposes
• Be responsible for field sampling & preparation
• Prepare & evaluate technical proposals
• Supervise field crews
• Mapping structural features of exposed rock and coal surfaces
• Reconciling actual to design coal mining quantities
• Developing programs for geochemical characterization of rock
• Assist with in pit coal quality and recovery programs

The successful applicant will have:

• B.Sc in Geology or related degree
• Minimum five years experience, preferably in open pit coal mining
• Experience in computer assisted modeling (Gemcom preferred)
• Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
• Have outstanding time management abilities, able to prioritize and multi-task, in a fast paced environment
