Our Client is the
largest producer of Calcium Carbide products in North America. They are
seeking an experienced TECHNICAL MANAGER for their facility in Louisville, KY.
TECHNICAL MANAGER (Metallurgy Engineering Degree with Steel Industry
Experience)
Position
Summary:
- Manages the
development of new technology and products in expanding the need for calcium
carbide while maintaining quality and safety standards consistent with their
goals and objectives.
- Reports directly
to the President
Job Duties and
Responsibilities
Safety/Environmental
- Supports and
complies with Company safety program, policies, and procedures to eliminate
risks of employee injury and property damage
- Insures new
designs and customer products meet Company standards and all governmental regulations
- Maintains
compliance with local, state, and federal EPA regulations.
- Reviews quality
standards insuring new products meet expectations.
- Participates in
quality system management reviews.
- Promotes the
Quality Policy among employees.
- Provides technical
reso8urces to maintain the quality management system.
- Meets with
customers and develops positive relationships for long-term customer
commitments.
- Reviews, discusses
and interrupts customers’ requirements for existing and new products
- Analyzes
customers’ needs determining modifications and changes needed to fulfill
product requirements.
- Makes
recommendations and suggestions to customers for modifications and
improvements.
- Communicates with
the Sales Department on the development of new products and the potential
customer base.
- Conducts in-depth
research, reviews and analyzes technical literature and stays current on related
issues and technical data.
- Provides technical
information to the plants in improving design and product processes.
- Establishes
positive relationships with customers and provides technical training when
necessary.
- Provides employee
training and education when appropriate.
- Supports and
complies with all Company policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance
with all applicable local, state and federal laws.
Qualifications
(education, experience, abilities)
- This position
requires effective communication skills both oral and written as well as
leadership skills to motivate employees to high performance.
- The position
requires a four-year engineering degree or related field with manufacturing
experience.
- A degree in
Metallurgy Engineering with experience in the steel industry is
important.
Physical
Requirements
- The position
requires the ability to travel through out the plant and customer locations,
including walking up and down stairwells and inclines.
Work Environment
- Employee works
primarily in climate controlled environment, occasionally exposed to areas of
heat, cold, dust and noise.
- Normal protective
equipment consists of safety glasses, steel toe work boots, and hearing
protection.
