Safety Advisor



Our Client is the world's largest gold mining company. The Company has a portfolio of 27 mining operations, many advanced explorations projects located across five continents and a large land position on the most prolific and prospective mineral trends.
 
Our Clients operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in [Location].
 
They are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Safety Advisor to join their Goldfields operations.
 
Key responsibilities of this role include;
·         Promoting and continually improving the safety management standards and practices using consultative and advisory approaches
·         Ensuring that the integrity of records and documents are maintained and use this information to assess trends and implement programs to minimise the potential losses to personal injury and illness
·         Be available for 24-hour callouts in the event of an emergency
·         Training, support and completion of all personal elements of the company’s safety system
·         Proactive implementation of safety improvement programs
·         Act immediately to coach employees in effective safety practices when deficiencies are observed
·         Monitoring and support for underground operations safety improvement practices
·         Risk control measurement in accordance with the company’s safety initiatives and programs consistently implemented across operations
·         Delivery and coordination of alcohol and drug testing
·         Revision of OHS standards and procedures
·         Recording and reporting of injury and incident statistics
·         Delivery and coordination of induction process
·         Facilitation of major incident investigation
 
To be successful in this role you will;
·         3 – 5 years experience in OHS within the mining industry, preferably underground
·         Occupational First Aid Certificate
·         Knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
·         Knowledge of Australian Standards
·         Knowledge of incident reporting and safety statistics
·         Exposure to Auditing OH&S Systems
·         Computer literate – Microsoft Office
·         Proficient Technical report writing skills
