We have an opening for a Metallurgical Engineer. Incumbent will conduct
research and development projects to improve metal quality and reduce costs and
environmental impact of metal processing in a Lean organization. Individual’s
emphasis will be on molten metal treatment, casting processes, and quality
measurements. Will be required to develop and implement metal treatment
technology.
We have 2 facilties, one in Eagen MN and one in Tampa
FL. Metallurgist can live in either location but will need to travel between
the facilities depending on projects so upto 50% travel is required.
We will relocate the right candidate to either location.
Essential Functions:
- Provide
leadership and physical presence throughout organization as it pertains to
metals processes/procedures, quality, and environmental specifications.
- Conduct
investigations of abnormal or non-conforming material and products
including testing, training, and coordinating with others.
- Consult,
educate, and monitor coworkers, equipment, and processes as it pertains to
metals processes/procedures, quality, and environmental specifications.
- Initiate,
support, and promote continuous improvement for existing products and
develop processes for new products.
- Conduct
equipment testing ensuring system accuracy, uniformity of testing in
accordance with industry specification, review outcomes, and make
recommendations on necessary improvements.
- Manage the
implementation, review, and changes to test procedures to ensure that
information generated is scientifically sound, legally defensible, and of
known precision and accuracy.
- Communicate
effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Maintain and
continue to enhance personal skill level throughout employment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering WITH
EXTRACTION(MELTING) EMPHASIS VS MATERIAL/PHYSICAL
- Ability to have multiple projects running at one time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of producing concise reports utilizing figures and tables
to summarize routine product acceptance testing as well as non-conforming
investigations
- Ability to identify applicable requirements from customer or
specifications, orders, etc.
- Ability to generate or modify work instructions to comply with ISO
and other quality systems
- Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, Lotus, etc.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to foster a team
atmosphere
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Six Sigma/Lean certification desired but not required
