MB Century is one of the largest and most experienced drilling contractors, providing services to the oil and gas, and geothermal sectors in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and selected global locations. Century Resources operates one of the most comprehensive and modern rig fleets in the region.
MB Century New Zealand is seeking to appoint a Drilling Superintendent to oversee the safe and profitable operation of our drilling rigs situated within New Zealand. The New Zealand business unit is a $55M business employing approximately 120 people.
In addition to drilling services, MB Century’s specialist services include:
· Down hole logging;
· Reservoir Engineering;
· Steamfield Design;
· Steamfield Construction;
· Fabrication;
· Mechanical Services.
Position Synopsis
Reporting to the Drilling Services Manager, you will be responsible for the marketing, planning and organisation of MB Century drilling resources to achieve the maximum utilisation of resources and appropriate profit margins.
Your duties will include:
· To develop new drilling related business opportunities , market services and seek work opportunities from external clients;
· To maintain client relationships keeping a high level of client contact whilst responding quickly to client requests;
· To promote and ensure continual achievement and performance in all aspects of the company’s HSE practises, policies and procedures;
· To plan and organise drilling resources including equipment and personnel directed at increasing efficiency, productivity and cost effectiveness;
· To ensure adequate training and safety standards are maintained in drilling operations and that staff are suitably qualified;
· To develop effective preventative maintenance programs for drilling plant, given the utilisation and age of the equipment and to evaluate new drilling tools, equipment, materials and techniques;
· To provide assistance with business planning including strategies and targets and to effectively manage all expenditure related to drilling activities including forecasts, reviews of profit and loss statements and tender models.
Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, you will facilitate the achievement of an injury/incident free environment through your active participation in safety meetings and site safety programmes.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will come from an exploration drilling background with a strong focus in geothermal drilling, with substantial experience in a similar role. A strong safety background will be demonstrated across systems, standards, risk analysis, and communication of these.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent personnel management, time management, planning, organising and communication skills, a focus on continuous improvement, a commitment to achieving quality results, and a demonstrated understanding of safety management.
Conditions of Employment
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with your qualifications and experience will apply. Applicants will be based in Taupo, New Zealand with regular travel to various rig locations.
