Environmental Superintendent

Our client operates in the mineral resource sector with focus on uranium and has projects in Australia and Africa. In line with its long term vision to become an established uranium producer, the Company’s strategy is to identify, acquire and evaluate advanced uranium projects. Since 1998, during a period of sustained downturn in global uranium markets, our client had been accumulating a quality portfolio of advanced uranium projects each having production potential.

Due to their sustained growth and excellence, they require an Environmental Superintendent for their project in Malawi.

We are looking for someone who has a strong background in environmental management on a mine site.

Specifics of experience:
·         Tertiary qualifications in a relevant science discipline.
·         Considerable knowledge and experience in mine site environmental management (preferably 8+ years).
·         We would possibly look at someone who has not worked on a mine site, but has relevant industry experience.
·         Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team.
·         Strong communication and reporting skills.
·         Practical knowledge of monitoring techniques, data management and reporting.
·         Sound project management skills.
·         Ability to manage rapid change.
·         Sound computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite and in web-based applications.
·         Manual driver’s license.

Key responsibilities:
·         Leadership of the Environmental team.
·         Provide support across the business, to maintain high standards of environmental management.
·         Preparation of statutory and corporate environmental reports.
·         Development and improvement of the Environmental Management System and Radiation Protection Program.
·         Ensure compliance with legal and other requirements. Oversee implementation of environmental monitoring programmes.
·         Provide technical advice to site personnel as required.
·         Assist the SHER Manager in environmental and radiation planning and strategy development.
·         Liaise with external bodies such as government departments and stakeholders as required.
