Environmental Specialist

Our client is a leading Uranium producer in Africa. They require an Environmental Specialist to assist with a number of key projects for a fixed 3 year contact in Swakopmund, Namibia.

The SHER Department is committed to consistent and reliable Health, Safety Radiation and Environmental performances. Compliance to all Environmental legislation and regulations
is the foundation on which they build their performance. Focus currently is on the bedding down operation systems and planning for expansion.

With a commitment to reliable and consistent Mining Environmental Management , the incumbent reporting to the Managing Director , will be responsible for bringing combined skills to both operational and project phases by managing a dynamic Environmental team, implementing Environmental management system and manage the EIA for expansion.

Requirements:
·         Minimum BSC (Hons) Environmental Management or Environmental Engineering
·         Minimum 10 years in mining environmental management at an operational mine (Uranium)
·         Minimum 5 years experience in general environmental management
·         Working knowledge of ISO 140001, with focus on implementation and maintaining certification
·         Excellent reporting skills particularly at governmental agencies / external agencies level.
·         Excellent interpersonal communication and hands on skills

Main Responsibilities:
·         Manage and ensure all legal requirements are met (project phase reports and submissions to government)
·         Project manage the EIA process in order to gain environmental clearance
·         Manage Departmental Budgeting and Financial
·         Develop capacities and skills within the Environmental department while providing training and interaction with all stakeholders
