Senior Mining Engineer

- Qualification: Mining Engineering Degree
- Experience: 5 to 7 years
Requirement:
- Extensive production experience as an open-pit engineer at a mine
site, long-term mine planning.
Necessary skills:
- Computerized mine planning, including optimisation and design,
competent report writing, environmental and safety awareness.
- Must have a desire to train others.
Preferred skills:
- Well developed understanding of all aspects of mining, including
drill and blast, load and haul, rehabilitation and statutory requirements.
- Understanding of resource and reserve reporting requirements
- Exposure to financial analysis for mine planning, drill and blast
technologies, productivity analysis and geotechnical aspects would be preferred
but not essential
- Proficiency with Surpac, Whittle 4X
Role:
- Primary role is to liaise with mine planning and operations staff
at each site, including other related departments such as processing and
management, to coordinate mine planning functions.
- The incumbent will provide mine planning support to the various
group projects and in addition will provide technical support for projects
seeking efficiency improvements such as cost reductions and productivity
studies.
Responsibilities would include, but not limited to:
- Undertake technical evaluations and assist others to review new
projects (in part or whole).
- Coordinate with GME and site Resource Development staff to ensure
resource updates are provided within the required timeframe to allow LOM plans
to be developed in a timely manner.
- Provide mine planning and optimisation support to allow reserves
to be generated with timely consideration of mine and corporate requirements.
- Provide mine planning support for the development of life of mine
plans whilst coordinating input parameters from the various operations.
- Provide support and assist with the completion of technical
reports for mine design, scheduling and project work.
- Provide mine planning support for the collation of group
production statistics.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly production forecasts.
- Provide training of site mining engineers in technical and
operational matters through coordination with the relevant management at each
of the operations.
- Graduate engineers.
- Operations-based mine planning engineers.
- Regular travel to mine sites within group companies.
