Newcrest Mining Limited is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and self motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the engineering team at Cadia Valley Operations.
 
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the Mechanical Project Engineer provides engineering technical services for the design, construction & modification of plant, infrastructure and equipment to increase its capacity, availability and reliability.
 
Primary responsibilities include:
·         Ensuring all activities are carried out consistent with safe working practices and individual competencies, OHS legislation and the Company Safety Management System;
·         Engineering design, construction and commissioning of mechanical projects;
·         Supervision of contractors to ensure construction works are conducted in a safe, timely and efficient manner according to the site standards;
·         Preparation of capital works submissions; and
·         Participating in the planning and maintenance of major shutdown maintenance programs to facilitate the implementation of projects.
 
To be successful in this role you will need:
·         A strong safety focus;
·         A degree in Mechanical Engineering;
·         Experience in metalliferous mining, fixed plant maintenance and engineering;
·         Experience in slurry or water pumping;
·         Experience liaising with external service providers; and
·         A continuous improvement approach to all tasks.
 
Cadia Valley Operations is located approximately 25kms south of the scenic and historic community of Orange, NSW. The region offers a diverse range of dining, shopping, nightlife, sporting amenities and tourist attractions. Bathurst is 30 minutes drive east, the Blue Mountains 1 hour, Sydney, Canberra and the coast are within 3.5 hours drive.
 
The successful candidate will be relocated to Orange and receive a competitive remuneration package.
