Chief Mining Engineer (Planning Superintendent)

You will work directly with the site
team under the general direction of the G-9 Mine Manager and liaise with the
appropriate staff and contract engineering personnel to assist in meeting the
engineering goals for the project.

company with a Zinc rich polymetallic asset in Guerrero state, Mexico, is focused on becoming a producing
mining company. The high grade G-9 massive sulphide deposit at its 100% owned
Campo Morado property is at the center of Farallon's parallel track program.
Under this progressive program, expanding and confirming the high-grade
mineralization within the G-9 deposit, mine planning and design, equipment
acquisition, site construction and preparation activities are all taking place
concurrently, with the ramp up to production in July 2008.
Position Summary
- The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the
mine site engineering plans and perform short / long term planning engineering
duties related to development and production, coordination of staff and
contractors at our site who are collecting engineering data to support the
operational mine plan, mine development and permit applications.
- Additional responsibilities will include assisting in design
optimization, technical report writing, preparing daily / monthly reporting,
and preparing annual budgets.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Liaise with mine and mill operations
to ensure that the daily activities of each department are consistent with long
range objectives
- Supervise the mine engineering
department
- Ensure that the daily and monthly
statistical production summaries are prepared
- Develop practical mining plans based on all available
geological information to support daily / monthly intermediate and long-range
planning and productivity goals
- Lead the assessment of manpower, capital and equipment
requirements to meet objective
- Recommend
courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to
improve operational efficiency and control production costs
- Mine research:
identify avenues where potential cost savings or earnings can be realized, i.e.
explore new ideas through consultation with operations and mill personnel to
ensure that the G-9 project continues to be an aggressive and competitive
operation in the world market
- Utilize mine
modeling and planning software to prepare / evaluate / monitor mine plans and
budgets
- Responsible
for preparation of capital project estimates
- Lead special
projects such as ventilation, core grade control, blasting, and backfill seminars
with crews and studies requested by management and operations
- Prepare
designs or design revisions (in consultation with the senior geologist) that
follow sound economic and geotechnical principles
- Coordinate
with geologists in exploration activities
Requirements:
- The successful applicant will have a
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in their engineering field with a minimum of 7 to
10 years of experience, preferably some of his experience gained in participating
and managing field programs
- Relevant mine engineering experience.
- This role will require strong
interpersonal and communications skills along with excellent technical skills
- Experience in project management,
logistic, construction, commissioning or start up would be considered an asset
- Ability to speak fluent Spanish
- English skills would be considered an
asset
- Experience with mine planning
software Vulcan and AutoCAD would be considered an asset
