Engineering Geologist

An Engineering Geologist is required to strengthen this discipline within the Earth Sciences team of my clients team in Manchester. The role arises from increased workload in support of other fundamental areas of the business, most notably contaminated land and geotechnical design.

Requirements:
Qualifications required for the position are a good first degree in geology or an applied earth science discipline and a second degree in Engineering Geology or similar. Coupled with postgraduate experience in the application of earth science knowledge and skills in the collection and interpretation of ground data would be preferable, though good qualifications and the right aptitude are most important

The position is office based but will inevitably involve travelling to sites on a regular basis. A driving license is therefore essential.

Responsibilities:
·          Obtaining, collating and interpreting background information for discrete sites and areas;
·          Providing input to ground models through site investigation and ground characterisation including defining scope of work, field supervision, assessment of data and interpretation for geotechnical/environmental design;
·          Conducting field geological audits and other activities related to applied earth science research;
·          Providing support to professionals in other disciplines including geotechnics, contaminated land, waste management, EIA and civil/structural engineering;
·          Producing high quality technical reports; and
·          Contributing to the development of new areas of business in the application of earth science disciplines
