Central Africa Manager




Permanent position in the mining sector in the Copperbelt Zambia/DRC. Must have a huge experience in Africa, with previous base metals experience in Africa preferable from the Cu belt of Zambia or DRC. The person will be required preferably to be based in either Zambia or Lubumbashi and requested to travel/move in his region or being in the field.
Annual gross salary for expats can be between USD 215 – 220.000,00 – Negotiable.
Locals will be offering a different salary – Negotiable.
 
Education Background:
Exploration GeologistRequired Courses: GeologySpecialization: Exploration on Base Metals & preferably Copper explorationLanguages required: English & French – Fluent; Portuguese Basic
 
Activities:
This managerial position is designed for an individual capable to do the planning, coordination and prioritization of all exploration activities in the Central African Region, covering at least 2 priority Countries for the company: Congo-DRC and Zambia · Management of existing base metals projects· Prospect and project evaluation:
 
He/she will be responsible for bringing projects to key decision points in all technical and strategic aspects as well as maximizing value from those projects that the company is not willing to pursue· Project generation: the ability to review, assess and integrate technical data including geological, geophysical or geochemical databases is important for the candidate to generate new unrecognised opportunities by our competitors in his region, especially for Copper. Commercial transactions and negotiations: the role also requires the candidate to have sufficient commercial, interpersonal and network skills for negotiations· Representation:
 
The roles also consider representation duties in order to fairly represent the company's presence in the region.
 
Responsibilities:
·         Define, plan and execute exploration and technical evaluation programs of regional and prospect scale scope geological mapping, management of regional/prospect-scale geophysical surveys as well as the scout, prospect and resource delineation drilling
·         Participate actively in the negotiations, control and procurement of all contracts in order to guarantee cost efficient operation systems and excellence in the results
·         Ensure the methodology of information integration, with the purpose to guarantee cost efficient decision-making processes
·         Supervise the construction and maintenance of the databases in Africa in order to guarantee their consistency, through analyses of the quality control reports, and the samples preparation methods, assuring the validation of the database\
·         Prepare progress, monthly and government reports for internal and external purposes
·         Ensure all work is conducted in accordance to the company’s health, safety, environmental and community policies
·         Formulate Descriptive Records for contracting
·         Prepare technical presentations for general evaluation of existing projects or to motivate the company’s involvement into new projects
·         Assist in the elaboration of a geological and resource model
·         Assist the project’s economic evaluation, through the elaboration of a general economic study and general cash flows
·         Provide the evaluation/auditing of the mining assets in process of fusion and acquisition of companies or operations (Due Diligence)
·         Contribute with innovativeness in the development of the region activities as well as mentor other members of the team disseminating knowledge and experience throughout the group"
 
Qualifications:
Necessary Previous Knowledge And Experiences:
·         Previous experience in Base Metals (not necessarily in the Copper Belt)
·         Previous leadership experience in high challenging environments;
·         Knowledge and consciousness in good Health & Safety practices than can be applied and disseminated into the field;
·         Management knowledge, being able to deal with technical matters as well as administrative subjects and contracts management;
·         Previous understanding of geological models and relevant exploration techniques for Copper deposits
·         Familiar with the integration and manipulation of diverse technical database types for target generation purposes;
·         Reasonable exposure or involvement into the negotiation of mining exploration deals (JV and similar types of associations with third parties).

Large technical competencies in Exploration Geology and experience in base metals.
