Permanent position in the mining sector in South Africa.
The person will be required preferably to be based in South Africa and requested to travel/move in his region (Africa) or being in the field.
Preference will be given to South Africans. Candidates must have previous base metals experience in Africa.
Education Background:
· Exploration Geologist
· Required Courses: Geology (BSc Hons)
· Specialization: Exploration or Project Generation
Languages Required: English - Fluent; French - Advanced; Portuguese - Basic
Activities:
· As a member of the Non Ferrous Minerals Division of the company, He/She will lead a team which will join efforts to further increase the current effort in identifying, reviewing and implementing new Base Metals and bulk commodities opportunities in Africa with focus Sedimentary Copper, Nickel, Fe ore, Coal and Bauxite deposits
· Another core accountability of his/her team will be to provide technical support to the existing African projects in coordination the organization’s technical and commercial coordinators in DIPM. He/She will have to generate, sponsor and facilitate implementation of new exploration initiatives in new countries either separately or jointly with other Regional Operating Groups in the continent and encourage exchange of technical knowledge and innovativeness amongst the company‘s Africa exploration team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To define, plan and execute exploration and technical evaluation programs of regional and prospect scale scope geological mapping, management of regional/prospect-scale geophysical surveys as well as the scout, prospect and resource delineation drilling.
· Participate actively in the negotiations, control and procurement of all contracts in order to guarantee cost efficient operation systems and excellence in the results
· Ensure the methodology of information integration, with the purpose to guarantee cost efficient decision making processes
· Supervise the construction and maintenance of the databases in Africa in order to guarantee their consistency, through analyses of the quality control reports, and the samples preparation methods, assuring the validation of the database
· Prepare progress, monthly and government reports for internal and external purposes
· Ensure all work is conducted in accordance to the company's health, safety, environmental and community policies.
· Formulate Descriptive Records for contracting.
· Prepare technical presentations for general evaluation of existing projects or to motivate the company's involvement into new projects.
· Assist in the elaboration of a geological and resource model.
· Assist the project’s economic evaluation, through the elaboration of a general economic study and general cash flows.
· Provide the evaluation/auditing of the mining assets in process of fusion and acquisition of companies or operations (Due Diligence).
· Contribute with innovativeness in the development of the region activities as well as mentor other members of the team disseminating knowledge and experience throughout the group. "
Necessary Previous Knowledge And Experiences:
· Natural Explorer (likes/wants to discover new opportunities);
· Previous leadership experience in high challenging environments;
· Knowledge and consciousness in good Health & Safety practices than can be applied and disseminated into the field;
· Management knowledge, being able to deal with technical matters as well as administrative subjects and contracts management;
· Previous understanding of geological models and relevant exploration techniques for Base Metals deposits
· Familiar with the integration and manipulation of diverse technical database types for target generation purposes;
· Reasonable exposure or involvement into the negotiation of mining exploration deals (JV and similar types of associations with third parties).

· Coordination & Teamwork: Involves the ability to work in a participative & multidisciplinary way to reach common goals while creating a good working environment for the team. Exhibiting willingness to assist others
· Flexibility and Mobility - Involves the availability to travel often to every place required, at any time, as well as the ability to be easily an adaptable to every place and insert quickly into different cultures
· Large technical competencies in Exploration Geology and experience in base metals.
