The Copper Smelter is being upgraded to 300ktpa capacity (from nominally 240ktpa). The physicals associated with the expansion are either in place or nearing completion. What is now required is to improve smelter performance both operationally and metallurgically to achieve the 300ktpa target. Currently metallurgical performance is impacting on anode output with high copper losses in slag and variable plant matte grades.
We are looking for an experienced Metallurgy Manager who is prepared to lead and motivate the metallurgical team (nominally 16 people) to deliver the required plant metallurgy.Provide appropriate metallurgical support to operations and maintenance personnel.Analysis of plant parameters to stabilize plant operation and effective scoping and timely delivery of metallurgical plant improvement projects will be key areas of responsibility.
You will be required to have input to the overall management of the Copper Smelter in conjunction with the Operational and Maintenance Managers
You must have tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering, experience in pyrometallurgy and the ability to communication and influence key stakeholders. Knowledge of and experience with metal balance processes would be highly regarded.
