Project Geologist



Our clients $2.4 billion project, once in full operation will be the largest gold mining in Australia - do you want to be a part of this exciting expansion project?

[Location] in Western Australia's southeast, this joint venture is built on the footprint of the original mine in the area. The operation involves open cut mining from two large pits and is expected to produce an average 850,000 ounces of gold and 30,000 tonne of copper a year for more than 20 years.
 
Production is due to commence in late 2008 so they are in full swing recruiting key staff that will be driving this project in the short, medium and long term, hence why this vacancy has arisen.
 
The purpose of the role:
The main purpose of the Project Geologist - Resource Development role is to assist in the design and implementation of this large scale expansion project, evaluating the geological and mining characteristics of specific mineral development prospects.
 
In addition the Project Geologist - Resource Development is responsible for reviewing and advancing standards for geological logging and mapping for resource development programs, undertaking specific project investigations to advance the geological interpretation of the resource, providing technical assistance and training to junior geological staff.
 
Major responsibilities of the role include:
·         Provide supervision of drilling operations
·         Development of project investigations to advance understanding of local mineralization controls
·         Administration and maintenance fo geological and structural database
·         Computer manipulation of geological data to assist in geological interpretation
·         Present technical reviews to site management
·         Candidate requirements:
 
The successful candidate will have 4 plus years experience in gold exploration including experience in resource development and near mine exploration.
 
If successful you will work on a 8 days on 6 days off roster that will be drive in drive out from [Location]. A competitive salary will be discussed at interview stage.
