Mine Planning Engineer - Open Pit

This is a role that will have definite appeal for Mine Planning Engineers with about three years post qualification experience. Our client is a very successful privately owned mining and civil contracting company with extensive experience in contract coal and gold mining and large civil earthmoving projects across New Zealand. They have a reputation for successfully completing difficult projects where others have struggled or failed.

This role is located on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Responsibilities will consist of providing planning and operational input into mining operations including the mining sequence, drill and blast schedules, ensuring daily production runs conform to the plan, providing technical information and developing load and haulage schedules.

You’ll need a mining qualification to degree level and around 3 or more years of open cut mine planning experience, ideally using Vulcan software. You’ll be strongly focused on HSE and will be able to add value by helping to optimize the mine development strategy both short and longer term.
