Position Description
- Supervise the process metallurgists for the BOF, LRF, and Caster facilities.
- Assure that daily functions are completed on time including the daily disposition of discrepant material, the thorough investigation and response to customer claims and problems, and the investigation and correction of internal rejections.
- Will work proactively to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Will provide technical services to the Blast Furnace on request from Management.
- Provide metallurgical support to the Technical Service, Advanced Product Development and Quality Systems areas.
- Revise and enhance FMEA's and Control Plans.
- Follow company policies regarding all health, safety and environmental procedures.
- All other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Steel industry experience preferred.
- Experience using computer programs, particularly for statistical analysis of data.
- Knowledge of statistical problem solving methods and experience with quality systems.
- Team oriented with a strong work ethic.
- Prefer candidate with 2 - 3 years experience at a continuous caster and ladle refining operations facility.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness to meet aggressive deadlines.
