Chief Chemist

With continued growth and expansion at their flagship operation, our client is seeking an experienced Chief Chemist who can assist in ensuring optimal production in the plant and provide technical support to operations.

This is a rare opportunity to secure an expatriate role where you can apply your background in the mining industry and mentor a team of national and expatriate staff in the laboratory.

The Chief Chemist will be required to manage costs, quality and personnel in the laboratory to ensure that timely and accurate reports and advice is provided to the processing plant and geology teams.

They will ensure that procedures and methods are rigorously applied and results are reliable. Mentoring and coaching of national staff will be a focal point of this role. The Chief Chemist will also promote adherence to safe working procedures at all times.

The ideal candidate will have:
·         A degree in Chemistry / Metallurgy / a related discipline
·         Substantial experience in a laboratory environment consulting to mining and processing groups
·         Experience with analysis of base metals
·         Strong communication and leadership skills
·         Outstanding ability to manage budgets and personnel
·         The desire to mentor national staff
