Group Metallurgist

Our Client is developing a significant polymetallic project in Eastern Australia. The project is at the pre-feasibility stage with initial Metallurgical studies indicating profitable recovery of Au and Ag. The Company is well funded and is now seeking to appoint a Group Metallurgist to play a key role in managing critical aspects of the project’s development.
 
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, essential functions will be to:
·         Manage Metallurgical, Environmental and Processing related activities. In carrying out these duties it is anticipated the Group Metallurgist will scope out and oversee work undertaken by consultants and testing laboratories
·         Develop and supervise a budget and timetable for ongoing Metallurgical testwork, whilst ensuring it is undertaken to a high standard and in a timely fashion
·         Commission and review external evaluations and studies of specific Metallurgical issues
·         Provide technical support to the exploration team in their assessment of prospects by developing and managing suitable ore characterisation testwork programs to determine key Metallurgical parameters for initial economic modelling
·         Maintain a watching brief of existing and emerging technologies that might be suitable for incorporation into the processing flowsheet
·         Determine capital and operating costs and provide Metallurgical data which will be used initially in a pre-feasibility study and ultimately in the BFS
·         Prepare and manage project time lines highlighting the anticipated attainment of key milestones
·         Prepare monthly reports and attend Board Meetings and present project updates to Directors
·         Participate in the tendering process and subsequent award of the EPCM contract, provide design input and review recommendations for the selection and acquisition of long lead time processing equipment
 
It is anticipated candidates will be degree qualified Minerals Processing professionals with ~ 15 years experience - ideally encompassing operations, process engineering and project management. Those with experience in developing and managing process design and engineering of new projects from pre-feasibility through to commissioning will be of particular interest.
