JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for identification and capture of new core exploration business opportunities.
- Lead evaluation of new ventures, managing process through participation in license rounds, farm-ins and other asset deals.
- Advise management on exploration strategy and prospect inventory, supporting commercial negotiations and interacting with JV partners, government bodies and contractors.
SPECIALIST/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR APTITUDE:
- Previous international new venture experience with a sstrong background in African petroleum systems.
- First rate technical skills in a range of geological and geophysical disciplines
- Hands-on approach to exploration evaluation and well developed understanding of subsurface risk.
- Successful oil/gas finder with demonstrable track record.
- Able to work quickly and effectively to short deadlines
- Considerable exposure to datarooms, excellent overview skills, able to identify and quantify critical issues
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS :
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in exploration with major/independent oil companies, National Oil Companies, and/or consultancy companies
- High calibre graduate in Earth Sciences, preferably with a postgraduate qualification
OTHER PERSONAL OR GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to organise and multi-task.
- Ability to deal with multi-cultural teams.
- Openness to new technologies / software.
- Cooperation with and influencing of JV Partners.
