Mining Engineer/Analyst

John T. Boyd Company is a Mining and Geological Consulting firm with offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Denver, Colorado; Beijing (China); and Brisbane (Australia).
We are seeking an Engineer/Analyst with one to five years of practical experience in the mining industry. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mining Engineering, although other engineering or business disciplines will be considered depending on employment experience.
This particular opening is for a position in our Pittsburgh office. We are situated in the Southpointe development outside Canonsburg, a suburban office setting conveniently located just off Interstate 79 between Pittsburgh and Washington, PA.
Qualifications:
- BS Engineering (Mining Engineering degree preferred, other engineering or business disciplines will be considered).
- Solid written and verbal communication skills are a necessity. Candidates will be asked to provide examples of technical writing.
- Strong organizational skills are important.
- The ideal candidate will have some background in both production operations and engineering. Experience in coal is important but not essential.
- Preference will be given to those who also have experience in financial analysis of mining operations and the development of cost models.
- Projects involve travel, and the candidate must be willing to travel domestically and internationally on a project-by-project basis.
- The successful applicant will have the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
