Duck Pond Operations is a copper-zinc producer located in central Newfoundland within the Exploits Valley Region, 30 km from the closest community of Millertown and 100 km southwest of the town of Grand Falls-Windsor. Mining is carried out principally from underground utilizing ramp access at a rate of approximately 1,800 tonnes of ore per day. A flotation mill processes the ore to produce copper and zinc concentrates for sale.
Heavy Duty Mechanic
Permanent 7 on 7/off (days/nights)
- Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor this position is responsible to work in a safe and efficient manner according to company policies and procedures
Job specific duties will include, (but not limited to):
- Maintain, repair, adjust, replace, modify and troubleshoot heavy duty equipment to ensure proper performance and detect defaults and malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment. Other duties as assigned.
- This includes both surface and underground mobile, fixed and process equipment.
- This position requires an interprovincial journeyman tradesman certification.
- Preference will be given to those with experience working in a U/G mining environment.
- Preference will be given to those with experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills are essential.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace and maintain equipment following OEM, regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Self motivated and the ability to work independently or collaborate with others.?
