Teck Cominco Metals Ltd. an integrated world-wide, natural resource company with principal activities being mineral exploration, mining, smelting and refining, has permanent job opportunities for graduating students in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering.
Assignments will be at Teck Cominco’s Trail Operations. Trail Operations is a highly complex smelting and refining operation that produces zinc, lead, copper, gold, silver, cadmium, bismuth, indium and other products. The diversity of the operations offers many challenging technical opportunities to engineers.?Engineering graduates are assigned to an Engineer-in-Training Development Program lasting 18 months and designed to provide opportunities for learning and development. The program addresses the needed competencies, skills and abilities for the EIT to be successful in his/her job.
- Chemical and Metallurgical engineers can expect EIT assignments which will familiarize them with the
- operating procedures and technical processes of various plants
- Work assignments may include troubleshooting and improvement of existing processes, development of new processes or participation in experimental pilot-plant work.
- With increased experience and a demonstrated capability based on performance evaluation, opportunities are available to move into more senior technical positions or supervisory/managerial roles.
Trail, B.C. is located in southeastern British Columbia. Trail offers a moderate climate, reasonably priced housing, excellent medical and educational facilities and outstanding indoor/outdoor recreational opportunities.
