Newcrest Mining is always on the lookout for experienced Geologists to join our team as our Cadia Mines continue to expand into 2008/09. We are seeking expressions of interest from Senior Geologists, Geologists with some experience, and entry level Geologists.
Some key areas of responsibilities include:
· Assist with the safe and efficient operation of drilling programs;
· Involvement in the complete process from drill hole design, supervision of drilling programs through core logging and interpretation and inputs into models and resource estimates;
· Participation in team geology evaluations including inputs into several research activities;
· QAQC evaluation and management;
· Production and reconciliation tracking and reporting;
· Development of orebody modelling parameters using advanced geostatistics;
· Provide support to the Ore Control team including systems development and production coverage where required; and
· Other project work.
Prerequisites for these roles include:
· Safety, quality and customer focus;
· Undergraduate degree in Geology or Earth Sciences;
· Previous mining experience;
· Computer literacy; and
· Team worker with good communication skills.
Cadia Valley Operations is located approximately 25kms south of the scenic and historic community of Orange, New South Wales. The region offers a diverse range of dining, shopping, nightlife, sporting amenities and tourist attractions. Bathurst is 30 minutes drive east, the Blue Mountains 1 hour, Sydney, Canberra and the coast are within 3.5 hours drive.
The successful candidate will be relocated to Orange and receive a competitive remuneration package.
