Site Environmental Officer - Mining and Resources

Our client is a well established iron ore mining company who has a strong reputation in the market due to their high level of production in years gone by and their positive future production forecasting. A current growth phase has seen a requirement to increase personnel in their Environmental Services Department, as a result they are now in search of an Environmental Advisor.
The Environmental Services Department ensures effective environmental management of operations, ensuring compliance to internal and external obligations, maintaining constructive working relationships with stakeholders, maintaining a certified Environmental Management System (EMS) and managing the environmental permitting of future activities.
Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
· Mentoring of junior and site based environmental personnel
· Providing environmental advice to project expansion studies
· Providing assistance in maintaining certification of Environmental Management System
· Providing assistance with the management of biological surveys, for project approvals
· Preparing, implementing and communicating environmental policy, processes, practices and procedures
Formal Training/ Qualifications/ Experience:
· Tertiary degree in environmental management, biological sciences or related field
· Significant experience in the development and/ or implementation of management programs
· Significant knowledge and experience in environmental approvals processes
· Working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
· A minimum of 3 years working experience with the mining and resources sector
This is a [Location] based role with site travel when required. If successful we will discuss salary throughout the recruitment process and will be determined by your level of experience. In addition to your base salary other incentives including 15% superannuation and up to 15% bonus will be included.
