Skill Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or
technical training
- Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Registration
as a professional geologist
- Experience: 5 years or more
- Type of Work Experience: Resource exploration, Resource exploitation and
development, Theoretical or fundamental research, Applied (non-industrial)
research, Industrial research and development, Instrumentation, Development of
maps, Instrument design and development, Statistical analysis
- Work Setting: Mining company
- Geology Specialization: Coal geology, Mineralogy or applied mineralogy, Mineral
deposits or mining
- Geology Skills: Surface geological mapping
- Geochemistry Specialization: Mineral geochemistry
- Geochemistry Skills: Field sampling and preparation, Rock and source analysis,
Residuals and soils analysis
- Geophysics Specialization: Minerals, Engineering
- Types of Resources: Coal
- Resource Usage and Environmental Studies: Environmental assessment, Natural
resources policy evaluation, Resource appraisal and assessment, Rock mechanics,
Site remediation, Slope stability studies, Waste management (storage)
- Field Work Location Experience: On land
- Project and Personnel Management Skills: Manage field studies,
Multidisciplinary projects co-ordination,
- Preparing or evaluating technical
proposals, Supervise field crews, Exploration program management
- Computer Experience: Data manipulation and analysis, Modelling and simulation
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing,
walking, Tight deadlines,
- Attention to detail
- Work Site Environment: Outdoors
- Work Location Information: Rural area, Willing to relocate
- Other Information: Must have geology or related degree, minimum 5 years
experience, preferably in open pit coal mining
- Experience in computer assisted modeling (Gemcom).
Northeastern BC - relocation is necessary.
