Metallurgist

A Perth based product development and supply business unit of Sandvik, which develops aftermarket parts for the global mining industry. Is looking for a metallurgist with a “hands on” attitude who is interested in taking on an exciting and challenging role with a young engineering team.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager your responsibilities would include:
·         Providing written and verbal metallurgical support and expertise to the Engineering team and product manufacturers.
·         Taking part in new material research, testing and implementation as part of the R&D team.
·         Assisting in the establishment of new suppliers and their manufacturing methods to suit the supplied products.

Tertiary qualification in metallurgy (or similar) is essential and good interpersonal skills will be an asset. Although based in Perth, Sandvik is a global business with suppliers and manufacturers around the world, thus the position will require intermittent travel both nationally and internationally.

The ability to work independently with a desire to be challenged, a hunger to learn and an ambition to achieve success are ideal qualities to succeed in this role.
